Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, who was admitted to a hospital in central London after falling ill, is still at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but he is in a stable condition now. Annisul is stable now but he is still unconscious, AKM Mizanur Rahman, assistant personal secretary of the mayor, told The Daily Star.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq was buried at Banani graveyard in the capital this afternoon. He was laid to rest beside the graves of his mother and son around 5:30pm amid hundreds of followers shedding their tears. Earlier, people from all walks of life, including ministers, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and political leaders paid their last tributes to the mayor.
Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon took oath as mayors respectively of Dhaka North and South City Corporations on May 6 last year. They took over offices with serious pledges and commitments to bring about qualitative changes in delivering civic services.
Five years ago, late mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq turned the choked and almost unusable road into a functional one by removing an illegal truck stand, constructing wide pavements and planting trees on the median.
