Annisul Huq-led panel leading in FBCCI polls

Annisul Huq-led panel was leading in the biennial election to the country's apex trade body, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), held yesterday. According to the latest results, out of 12 posts of FBCCI directors, 11 were clinched by candidates from Annisul's chamber-group panel while rival MA Rouf Chowdhury-led panel got only one post.

Annisul Huq’s panel wants direct voting

Ganatantrik Parishad, a panel in the upcoming FBCCI election, yesterday demanded restoration of direct voting system. Leader of the panel Annisul Huq, also ex-president of the FBCCI, made the demand at a post-Eid gathering at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital.

DNCC mayoral post declared vacant

The government has declared the mayoral post of Dhaka North City Corporation vacant after death of its mayor Annisul Huq. The local government ministry today published a gazette in this regard saying that the DNCC mayoral post fell vacant on December 1. According to the electoral law, the Election Commission can hold a by-poll to elect the city’s mayor for the vacant post within 90 days for the rest tenure of the DNCC.

Annisul collects nomination form

Eminent businessman Annisul Huq today collected a nomination form to join the upcoming Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral race. The former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) bought the form around 3:40pm from the returning officer’s office at Agargaon.

Annisul, Khokon win Dhaka city polls

Awami League-backed candidates Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon were unofficially declared the mayors of Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations, early today. The elections however were boycotted by BNP-endorsed candidates amid rigging, violence and intimidation.
