Eviction turns violent, cops fire on Tejgaon truckers

At least one person was injured as police opened fire on transport workers after an eviction drive at the Tejgaon truck stand turned violent this afternoon. The clash broke out in presence of Mayor Annisul Huq around 1:30pm when Dhaka North City Corporation was driving out the illegal truck stand on Tejgaon roads.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained a man for allegedly threatening Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq with death in Dhaka this afternoon. The elite force picked up Md Nahid Happy, 41, near FDC gate in Tejgaon industrial area around 4:40pm, said Major Maksudul Alam, deputy director of Rab’s Legal and Media Wing.
