Flight BG202 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines left Heathrow Airport at 7:58pm local time on Friday (around 2am BdST on Saturday), about two hours behind schedule, with the coffin.

Annisul’s wife Rubana Huq, son Navidul Huq and a granddaughter of the mayor are also travelling to Dhaka in the same flight, a Biman official told bdnews24.com.

The official also said the flight is expected to reach Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport at 1pm via Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.

Annisul went to London by the end of July as his daughter was scheduled to give birth the next month. He was admitted to a hospital there after falling ill.

He died at the hospital on Thursday night. The doctors had diagnosed him with cerebral vasculitis — an inflammation of the blood vessel wall involving the brain.

His funeral prayers were held at London Central Mosque near Regent’s Park after the Juma prayers on Friday.

He will be buried at the Banani Graveyard after another funeral prayer after the Asr prayers in the afternoon on Saturday, the city corporation said.
