The foot over-bridge at the Dhaka Airport intersection had been officially inaugurated yesterday. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq formally opened the bridge. The bridge with escalators on both sides is the second of its kind in Dhaka. Banani has the first one. The mayor at the time of inauguration said two more foot-over bridges with escalators would be opened by next three months.

He said, “A foot-over bridge will be opened in Khilkhet area within a month while the other will be inaugurated in front of Hotel Radisson Blu.”  Moreover, placement of tree-in-tubs at all the foot-over bridges would be completed by 2016, the mayor observed. He also told the reporters that the primary work of setting up 22 U-loops in the capital was in progress.
DNCC chief executive officer Md Mesbahul Islam, Captain Jahan Yaar and joint commissioner of DMP Mosleh Uddin Ahmed were present at the inaugural function.

The construction of the bridge started in January this year at a cost of Tk 4.84 crore. DNCC funded the construction while The Bangladesh Navy-operated Dockyard and Engineering Works Ltd implemented the structure. The bridge was opened previously before formal inauguration to ease the Hajj pilgrims’ journey which has a unique white look.
