The first death anniversary of Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Annisul Huq will be observed today (Friday).
In this regard family members of the late mayor have arranged a doa mahfil for the departed soul’s salvation, according to a press release.

 

He was president of several apex bodies including the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Federation of the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Independent Power Producers Association.
The FBCCI held a memorial discussion at its auditorium on Thursday.

 

 

As a mayor he is remembered for his effort to free city bus stations of illegal encroachment and bring Dhaka’s traffic congestion problem to a tolerable level.
Annisul was laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard on December 2 in 2017. He was born on 27 October 1952 at Sonapur village under Sonagazi upazila in Noakhali district. Moreover, Huq established his own business, Mohammadi Group in 1986.

 

Huq who became Dhaka North City Corporation mayor in 2015, died on November 30 in a London hospital at the age of 65. He was suffering from a disease that attacked his nervous system.
The late mayor led an eventful life in which his career took off as a television presenter and evolved into that of a successful businessman. His business interest spanned over readymade garment to power to information technology to real estate to agro-based industry and to media.
