Tributes still pour in for Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, who breathed his last at a London hospital around 4.23 pm (London time) Thursday. He was 65.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Huq. In separate messages, the president and the prime minister recalled Annisul Huq’s contributions to the development of Dhaka North City Corporation area.

People from all walks of life are expressing shock at the death of once famous TV personality and business icon Annisul Huq.

National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in a message expressed deep shock at the death of Annisul Huq. She recalled the contributions of Huq, saying he was a famous and successful businessman, industrialist and modern thinking person.

“He had much attention towards development of Dhaka North City Corporation and people living in the area,” the speaker said.

Deputy leader of the House Syed Sazeda Chowdhury, leader of the opposition Rawshan Ershad, LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, state minister for land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury in separate messages expressed deep shock at the death of Annisul Huq.

They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family, reports BSS

Huq was kept on life support at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital for cerebral vasculitis.

According to his family members, the doctors of the hospital removed the ventilation apparatus from his mouth around 4:23pm in London time, declaring him dead.
