A special dua mahfil was held at Gulshan Mosque in Dhaka after Asr prayer yesterday marking the first death anniversary of the late mayor of Dhaka North. At the gather, Navidul Huq — the elder son of Annisul Huq –addressing the participants said: “My father was the favorite to all. He invested self for the people. That’s why Dhaka dwellers regardless of their identity still recall him.
“He got the rare love of people which makes him genuine. When I spoke for the last to my father, I asked him whether he had any regret,” recalled the son. “No, I don’t have any regret,” that’s what he replied.

Seeking dua for the salvation of the departed soul, Navidul concluded his brief speech. Apart from the family members, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Atiqul Islam and chairman & managing director of Ha-Meem Group AK Azad were present among others.

Meantime, a milad and dua mahfil was held at Mohammadi Group — the business group established by Annisul Huq — on Wednesday.

A recitation from the holy Quran was held at Huq’s chamber on Thursday after Zohr prayer.  Businessman turned mayor Annisul went on a family tour to London on 29 July, 2017. During the visit, he was hospitalized and diagnosed with Cerebral Vasculitis. On 30 November, Huq breathed his last at a hospital in London.
