Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq is being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in London. Bangladesh High Commission’s Minister (press) Nadeem Qadir said that he has been diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis which is inflammation of the blood vessel wall involving the brain.

Qadir said, “The mayor has been ill for quite some time, but doctors in Bangladesh could not identify his problem.”

“The prime minister spoke with his wife Rubana Huq over phone on Tuesday and wished his early recovery,” he said.On July 29, the mayor went to London to visit his daughter who has given birth to a child on Aug 8.On Friday, he went to a London hospital as he was not feeling well. During the diagnosis, he fell unconscious, according to one of his aides.

“Doctors found inflammation of the blood vessel wall in his brain,” he said.

Annisul Huq took oath as DNCC mayor on May 6, 2015.

Special prayers were offered at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital on Wednesday, seeking early recovery of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq.

Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) and its Dhaka city unit organised the special prayers.

Mayor Annisul has been admitted to a London hospital for several days after diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis.

BPUP general secretary Shyamal Kumar Roy, Jayanto Sen Dipu, Milon Kanti Dutta, Nirmal Chattarjee, Tapas Kunda, Palash Chakraborty, Subol Ghosh and Urmi Dhali, among others, took part in the programme.
