The first death anniversary of Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Annisul Huq will be observed on Friday.
A press release sent by Nagorik Television said that family and colleagues planned events for offering prayers for salvation of the departed soul.
Nagorik TV is owned by Mohammadi Group, which Annisul Huq founded in 1986.
He became Dhaka North City Corporation mayor in 2015.
He died at a London hospital at the age of 65. He was suffering from a disease that attacked his nervous system.
Annisul led an eventful life in which his career took off as a television presenter and evolved into that of a successful businessman. His business interest spanned over readymade garment to power to information technology to real estate to agro-based industry.
He served Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association as its president on two terms in 2005 and 2006.
He was also the president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
As a mayor he is remembered for his effort to free city bus stations of illegal encroachment and bring Dhaka’s traffic congestion problem to a tolerable level.
