Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq commented that rise of militancy and terror activities were only not the problem for Dhaka, rather the whole world had been facing the security challenge. Reminding the Gulshan café carnage and Sholakai attack, he urged all no to be panicked.
“Be alert and ensure own security to avoid such untoward incidents,” he said. Mentioning DNCC’s CCTV installation at residential areas, he also suggested other housing societies to step up their security measures.The mayor made the call while addressing an opinion exchange meeting city corporation zonal office at Mohakhali. Around 500 people from different strata including landlords, businessmen, traders, teachers and students took part to the meeting.
Mayor Annisul described several initiatives of the city authority despite of man power crisis. He urged all out cooperation to make the footpaths occupation-free, coloring the city buildings, waste management and solving traffic jam. The participants thanked the mayor for arranging such program. DNCC’s chief executive office, executive officer of zone-3, local councilors and other corporation employees were also present at the program.
In the meantime, DNCC conducted an eviction drive at Shamoli Ring Road and Krishi Market area led by zone 5 Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate SM Ajior Rahman. Nearly 100 illegal structures were evicted during the drive. The mobile magistrate also fined five individuals Tk 75,300 and regular cases were filed against them at the end.
