President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have mourned the death of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) first Mayor Annisul Huq.

In a message of condolence tonight, he expressed profound shock at the death of Annisul, who won the City Election Poll on April 28 in 2015.

“The nation has lost an eminent businessman, a successful industrialist and a politician in his death,” the President said.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

In a condolence message, the prime minister recalled with profound respect the contributions of Annisul Huq to the development of Dhaka North City Corporation area.

She said Annisul Huq took many epoch-making steps for the welfare of the people of Dhaka North City Corporation area.

“He will be ever remembered for his extraordinary work,” she said adding the nation has lost a dedicated and popular public representative in his death.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Annisul Huq breathed his last at a London hospital around 4.23 pm (London time) today. He was kept on life support at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital for cerebral vasculitis.

According to his family members, the doctors of the hospital removed the ventilation apparatus from his mouth around 4:23pm in London time, declaring him dead, reports BSS.
