‘Tom and Jerry’ game is on over Annisul Huq road: Mayor Atiqul

A ‘Tom and Jerry’ game is going on over mayor Annisul Huq road adjacent to Tejgaon Truck Stand in the city, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam has said.

 

He said this while conducting an operation on the road on Wednesday.

 

Mayor Atiqul Islam said, “Laguna station has been set right after the railway line. Trucks have removed from the road sensing my presence here. But still there are many trucks parked on the road. Actually, a ‘Tom and Jerry’ game is going on over this road, just a ‘Tom and Jerry’ game.”

 

He further said, “They leave the road during my presence, they leave too when police come. Later, they occupy the road again. This is the real scenario of this road.”

 

Mentioning that city corporation often conducts raids here to clear the road from encroachment, the mayor said, “We often conducts raid here. But it is being occupied days after the raid.”

 

He said, “Truck owners often told him that why not he gives them land for truck parking? I told them to do first what I want. I want people not to suffer. For this, no truck can be parked on both sides of the road.”

 

Atiqul Islam also said that a five-member committee will be formed to keep the road free from encroachment.
