DNCC mayor seeks support for giving city a facelift
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Annisul Huq has sought help from all quarters in changing the facelift of the capital. “Please, stay with us. You will find difference in Dhaka. It will change every month,” he said while exchanging views with editors and senior journalists in the capital on Monday.
DNCC Mayor bemoans lack of power to deal with city problems
Despite being the city father, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq on Saturday bemoaned that he has no authority to deal with its 80 percent problems, reports UNB. “Some 80 percent of the problems are not under my purview to solve those. Traffic jam, water-logging, taking off billboards are not my issues. My jobs are officially to oversee the problems relating to parks, streetlights and waste management only,” he said.
One held for threatening DNCC mayor
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a youth from FDC gate area in Tejgaon in the city on Monday in connection with threatening Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Annisul Huq, UNB reports. The arrestees were identified as SA Nahid Happy.
Condolences pour in for Annisul Huq
Tributes still pour in for Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, who breathed his last at a London hospital around 4.23 pm (London time) Thursday. He was 65. President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Huq. In separate messages, the president and the prime minister recalled Annisul Huq's contributions to the development of Dhaka North City Corporation area.
Chikungunya not epidemic Say Dhaka mayors
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq said on Friday that chikungunya is spreading fast in the capital due to high breeding of mosquitoes. City corporations are not responsible for the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, he added.
Mayor Annisul’s condition improving
The condition of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq, who is now in a London hospital ICU, is gradually improving. Mentioning that Annisul is still unconscious, AKM Mizanur Rahman, assistant personal secretary of the mayor said that he will be in ICU for few more days as he needs monitoring.
Dhaka North City Corporation’s mayor post declared vacant
The mayor post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) was declared vacant on Monday four days after its first mayor Annisul Huq passed away. "The mayor post of the DNCC was announced vacant on Sunday (December 3). The gazette notification will be issued on that date," Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain told journalists at the Secretariat in Dhaka today, reports BSS.

Mayor Annisul on life support
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq, who has been undergoing treatment in London for cerebral vasculitis, is now on life support in a hospital there. Mizanur Rahman, personal assistant to the mayor, on Tuesday evening said Annisul has been kept under life support in the hospital since Monday as his condition was deteriorating.
First death anniversary of Mayor Annisul Friday
The first death anniversary of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq will be observed on Friday. Different socio-political and business organisations have taken various programmes, including miladmahfil, discussion and food distribution among the destitute, to mark the day.
