Rail official objects as mayor orders demolition
Two buildings near the rail station in Banani have been demolished in the presence of Dhaka North Mayor Annisul Huq for illegal construction on land belonging to the railway. But rail officials present at the scene objected to the demolition, saying that the land had been legally leased from the railway for the construction of the buildings.

No holding tax rise: DNCC Mayor
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will not raise the holding tax in the 2016-17 fiscal year, said its Mayor Annisul Huq yesterday. "Holding tax fixed for new and old houses and buildings won't be increased, but some measures will be taken to bring equality in holding taxes," he said while announcing the DNCC budget for fiscal 2016-17 at a city hotel.
