Let us fulfill the dreams of Mayor Annisul Huq

On 30th May, it has been six months since the decease of iconic Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Annisul Huq. Within less than half of his five-year tenure as a mayor he did many remarkable jobs to make Dhaka city greener, cleaner and free from pollution and traffic congestion. But due to his sudden death, he could not reach the estimated line he drew to make a better Dhaka city.

Study Centre named after Annisul Huq at DIU

The authorities of Daffodil International University (DIU) announced plans to introduce a study centre named after late Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq and also an award in his honour. The university will introduce “Annisul Huq Study Centre” and “Daffodil Change Maker Award” to preserve the memory of Annisul Huq, says a press release.

Let not Annisul Huq’s dream die

The last day of November 2018 marked the first death anniversary of iconic figure Annisul Huq who in his short life span (65 years) had pursued diverse careers in media, business and public service and found enviable success wherever he went. Being the visionary he was, he always understood the pulse of his audience as a media person, of clients as a businessman and of the city dwellers as the mayor of Dhaka North.

Fall of a star

The entire nation was shocked on Thursday night when news broke that Mayor Annisul Huq died at only 65. While the accomplished businessman had a prolific portfolio, the once hugely popular TV anchor and orator were undoubtedly defined by his work as the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation. Many think that his towering popularity as an anchor helped him to be elected the DNCC mayor in 2015.
